About Horse Riding
Horse riding is the one corporate experience done with the only "vehicle" the participant does not control. In a kart the throttle is in your hand, in a canoe the paddle; on a horse you have to reach an understanding with a 500-kilogram animal. That is both the appeal and the limit of the format: riding is something everyone is curious about, most have never done, and first-timers cannot forget half an hour later. The corporate programme offers it in three products — and for an international group, two of them are specific to Turkey.
Three products, three different days
1. Istanbul: from zero (half day, 6–30 people). An instructor-led programme at riding facilities inside the city: meeting and grooming the horse (20 min), basic riding in the arena — seat, reins, walk, halt (60 min), then a short escorted walk on the forest trail (45 min). No riding experience is needed; every participant is matched with a horse for their level. Built as the half-day block of a leadership group or an offsite meeting, with instruction in English.
2. Cappadocia: sunset valley ride (2 hours, 6–40 people). Not an arena but terrain: a walking-pace ride between fairy chimneys along the valley floor with a guide. The region has its own horse culture (Cappadocia means "land of beautiful horses") and the local horses are used to the ground. It is the engine-free counterpart of the ATV tour and can sit on consecutive days of a residential programme.
3. Cirit: display and try (2 hours, 20–60 people). The traditional Turkish equestrian sport; a display by professional cirit riders, cultural narration in English and a ground-throw try for participants (without horses). For teams that do not want to ride, it is the most inclusive product of the riding hub. For companies hosting international guests it becomes a half-day cultural programme together with traditional archery — one of the few activities a visiting group genuinely cannot do at home.
Why a team rides
A horse senses the rider's tension immediately and behaves accordingly: a tense rider, a restless horse; a calm rider, a calm horse. That feedback loop is the physical counterpart of what leadership and stress-management programmes describe, and the instructor shows it in the arena in the first ten minutes. As a group activity, riding is not a team game; everyone is alone with their own horse — but moving as a convoy on the trail, watching the rider ahead and behind, gives it the group dimension.
Who it is for, safety, season
No riding experience or fitness is needed; the weight limit for the horse's welfare is 100–110 kg and goes on the invitation. Helmets are mandatory and provided; participants need long trousers and closed shoes without heels (jeans and trainers are enough — nothing special to pack). A participant afraid of horses is not pushed — grooming and meeting the horse from the ground is part of the experience too. Participation is not recommended in pregnancy, with disc herniation or serious balance problems; a health declaration is requested. Allergy (horse hair) is asked about in the invitation. Season: Istanbul arena year-round (indoor arena), forest trail and Cappadocia April to November; early morning or sunset in summer.
Frequently asked questions
Can someone who has never ridden take part?
Yes; the Istanbul programme is precisely for people starting from zero. Meeting and grooming the horse, basic riding in the arena, then a short escorted trail — in English. Every participant is matched with a horse for their level. Anyone afraid of horses is not pushed; meeting the horse from the ground is part of the experience.
Istanbul or Cappadocia?
Istanbul is inside the city, half a day, arena plus forest trail; for leadership groups and offsite meetings. Cappadocia is a terrain ride at sunset between fairy chimneys; part of a residential programme. They are different products and neither needs riding experience.
What is cirit?
The traditional Turkish equestrian sport. A display by professional riders, cultural narration in English and a ground-throw try for participants (without horses). It is the most inclusive product for teams that do not want to ride, and with traditional archery it becomes a cultural programme for international guests.
Is it dangerous?
Helmets are mandatory and provided; the horses are used to corporate groups and selected by the instructor; the trail is at walking pace, with no galloping. Not recommended in pregnancy, with disc herniation or serious balance problems; a health declaration is requested.
Weight limit and clothing?
For the horse's welfare there is a 100–110 kg limit, stated on the invitation. Long trousers and closed shoes without heels are enough (jeans and trainers). Horse-hair allergy is asked about in the invitation.
Which months, and how many people?
Istanbul indoor arena year-round; forest trail and Cappadocia April to November, early morning or sunset in summer. Istanbul 6–30, Cappadocia 6–40, cirit 20–60 people. Larger groups are split into sessions; six to eight riders per instructor.
