Corporate Training Programmes: Sport-Based Competency Training
From strategic thinking to crisis management, from planning to data-driven decisions: training programmes that build competencies through the real decision moments created by sport and simulation — not slides.
Our corporate training programmes start from the competency HR wants to develop. Each programme combines a sport or simulation experience, its meaning for everyday work and an action plan for the team’s own job. The standard format is one facilitator and a group of up to 30 in a meeting room for 3–4 hours; a short measurement at the start and end reports to HR what the training changed.

What is sport-based corporate training?
Short answer: Sport-based corporate training develops a competency — such as strategic thinking, crisis management or team coordination — through a sport or simulation experience in which participants make real decisions, feel real pressure and see the outcome immediately, rather than through slides and lectures. The experience is then translated into working life, and every team leaves with an action plan for its own job.
In classic classroom training, participants usually know the right answer; the hard part is applying it under pressure. On the field or in the simulator the clock runs down, the budget falls short, the plan breaks and the team has to make a real call. The value of the training appears in the debrief that follows those moments.
How it differs from a team event
| Team event | Sport-based training programme | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Fun, bonding, a shared moment | One or more competencies chosen by HR |
| Design | Activity-led | Competency-led: experience, framing, transfer |
| Output | Memories, motivation | Team action plans and a measurement report |
| Who runs it? | Event team | A facilitator, supported by the sport or simulation team |
Both needs are legitimate. If the goal is bonding, see our corporate team building activities; if it is a specific competency, the programmes on this page are the place to start.
Which competencies?
Our programmes cover 24 competencies in five areas: teams and collaboration, thinking and decisions, pressure and change, leadership and people, culture and commercial focus. The competency map below shows when each one is needed and how many programmes support it, and the programme finder builds a recommendation for your team straight away.
Every programme follows three steps
Experience
The team makes real decisions in a sport or simulation task: time, budget and information are limited and conditions change.
Framing
The facilitator links what happened to the chosen competency at work; the team reviews its own decisions.
Transfer
Each team writes a concrete action plan for its own job; the plans are shared with HR in the closing report.
Measurement
A short self-assessment at the start and end; team-level results are delivered to HR as a report.
Classroom format
One facilitator, up to 30 people, a meeting room, 3–4 hours. Larger groups run in parallel groups or stations.
Tailored design
Scenarios are adapted to your sector and agenda; the running order is shared at proposal stage.
