About Off Road
"Off-road" covers two different products in a corporate programme, and they are not alike. A jeep safari is a tour that needs no driving: professional driver, open-top vehicle, 8–12 people in the same vehicle, forest and village tracks, a water stop. Off-road driver training is a half-day course in which a licensed participant takes the wheel and learns gradients, mud and obstacle crossings. Everyone does the first; the second is right for a particular team. This page describes them separately.
Jeep safari: the day everyone is in the same vehicle
The corporate value of a safari is not in the driving but in the vehicle: 8–12 people side by side in an open cab, three or four hours of the same dust, the same water, the same view. Between the three to five vehicles moving in convoy, the traditional "water fight" (vehicles spray each other with water pistols and buckets) is what most participants talk about most at the end of the day; it is not programme design but regional culture, and it is deliberately preserved. Age, fitness and driving licence are not decisive; apart from pregnancy and serious back conditions there are no limits. For an international group it is also one of the easiest ways to see the Turkish countryside without a walking tour: guides speak English, and nothing needs to be packed beyond clothes that can get wet.
- Marmaris. Forest and village tracks, a waterfall stop, lunch at a village restaurant. Twenty minutes from the hotel zone; the classic side event for dealer meetings and congress groups staying in Marmaris and Datça.
- Kemer. The foothills of the Taurus, a steeper, higher route, canyon and plateau stops. Forty-five minutes from central Antalya; for groups staying in Belek and Kemer hotels.
Driver training: the team at the wheel
Off-road training is a different product: gradient descent and ascent, mud crossing, rock and ditch in a 4×4 with an instructor. A licence is mandatory and two or three participants per vehicle take turns driving — an international licence is accepted. The team dimension appears in the spotter role: in an obstacle crossing, the spotter outside the vehicle guides the wheel the driver cannot see; the driver has to trust the spotter because there is no road in their own line of sight. For sales teams, field operations and logistics teams it is one of the most concrete exercises built on trust and communication. Groups are limited to 6–18; larger groups are built as a safari-plus-training rotation.
Season, equipment and safety
April to November; in summer the safari departs early and the midday heat passes at the water stop. Rain does not stop a safari (the vehicles are open, you get wet); storms and floods do. Participants need clothes that can get wet and dusty, closed shoes, a hat and sun cream; a change of clothes is recommended. In training, helmet and seat belt are mandatory, vehicles are insured and a health declaration is requested. On the safari the health declaration covers only back conditions and pregnancy.
ATV or jeep safari
ATV/buggy is the more individual format in which participants drive their own vehicle with no licence; it works best on the valley tracks of Cappadocia. A jeep safari needs no driving, everyone is in the same vehicle and the group experience is stronger; with its proximity to Aegean and Mediterranean hotels it is a natural part of dealer and congress programmes. The two are not offered together in the same region; the choice follows location.
Frequently asked questions
Do we drive on the jeep safari?
No; a professional driver drives and participants sit side by side, 8–12 in an open cab. Licence, fitness and age are not decisive, and guides speak English. For teams that want to drive, off-road driver training is a separate product.
What is the water fight?
A regional tradition in which convoy vehicles spray each other with water pistols and buckets; it is culture, not programme design, and is deliberately preserved. You get wet; the invitation says so and a change of clothes is recommended.
Who is the driver training for?
Licensed participants (an international licence is accepted); two or three per vehicle take turns. The spotter role (the person outside guiding the wheel the driver cannot see) is a trust and communication exercise. Groups are limited to 6–18; larger groups run as a safari-plus-training rotation.
Where is it done?
Jeep safaris in Marmaris (20 minutes from the hotel zone, forest and village tracks) and Kemer (45 minutes from central Antalya, Taurus foothills). The classic side event for dealer meetings and congress groups. Driver training on terrain courses near the big cities.
Which months, and what about weather?
April to November. Early departure in summer. Rain does not stop a safari (you get wet); storms and floods do. Decision time and backup date are in the contract.
Health limits, and what to bring?
On the safari there are no limits apart from pregnancy and serious back conditions. In training, helmet and seat belt are mandatory and a health declaration is requested. Clothes that can get wet, closed shoes, a hat, sun cream and a change of clothes.
