About ATV

ATV is the corporate motor experience most defined by its location: the same vehicle is ordinary on a dirt road and unforgettable in a Cappadocian valley. That is why the corporate ATV programme is synonymous with Cappadocia — a two-hour convoy between fairy chimneys, rock churches and valleys, timed to meet the sunset. ATVs can be hired elsewhere in Turkey; but the one ATV experience worth taking a team somewhere for is here, and for a visiting international group it is one of the few motor experiences that is specific to the country.

Why ATV, why buggy

An ATV has four wheels and, unlike a motorcycle, needs no balance; no licence is required and a 15-minute briefing is enough. A buggy is a two-seat vehicle with belts and a roll cage: a participant who does not want to drive sits in the passenger seat and experiences the whole route without driving. In a corporate group both are offered together — those who drive take an ATV, those who do not take a buggy, and the convoy moves together. It is the only arrangement that meets the "everyone must join" condition in a motor sport. The Cappadocia programme includes vehicles, helmets, an English-speaking guide and the sunset route.

Route and flow

  • Briefing and vehicle introduction (20 min). Throttle and brake, gears (automatic), convoy rules (distance, hand signals, stopping).
  • Test lap (10 min). On flat ground; everyone gets used to their vehicle.
  • Valley convoy (90–120 min). Guide at the front, sweeper at the back; Rose Valley, Red Valley or Love Valley routes; photo and viewpoint stops.
  • Sunset point (30 min). The convoy stops on a ridge; refreshments and photographs. The most remembered moment of the programme.

Where it sits in a corporate programme

Cappadocia is the most requested Anatolian destination for residential leadership retreats, dealer meetings and sales incentives (top-performer groups), and the ATV tour sits on the afternoon of day two. Balloon flight in the morning, ATV at sunset — that pair is the classic Cappadocia programme. A one-hour flight from Istanbul and a 45-minute transfer are enough even for a one-night programme, and international flights connect through Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevşehir. For a EMEA sales incentive or a regional leadership offsite, it is the destination most often chosen when the brief says "somewhere they could not go on their own".

Who it is for, season, safety

No licence or fitness is needed; the age limit is 16 (18 to drive). There is dust and vibration: participation is not recommended with disc herniation, in pregnancy or with neck conditions, and a health declaration is requested. Helmets are mandatory, vehicles are insured, a guide and sweeper close the convoy; speed is limited by the guide and overtaking is forbidden. Season April to November; because the tour is timed for sunset, summer heat is not a problem, and spring and autumn are the most photogenic. Rain turns the dirt tracks to mud and shortens the tour; a storm is a cancellation criterion. Participants need clothes that can get dusty, closed shoes, sunglasses and a buff or bandana.

Alternatives

In the same region, horse riding is the engine-free counterpart of the ATV and offers a sunset route through the same valleys; the two can sit on consecutive days of the same programme. On the Aegean and Mediterranean, the jeep safari is the group version that needs no driving. For teams wanting a track and competition, go-karting is in the city.
