About Go Kart

Go-karting is the corporate competition format with the least arguable result: the clock does not lie. On a football pitch the referee's call is argued, in bowling luck, in archery the wind; in karting the lap time is on the screen and who stands on the podium is decided to a thousandth of a second. For teams that enjoy competition, that clarity turns the event into the thing talked about for a week afterwards.

The grand prix format

A corporate karting event is not one race but a race day:

  • Briefing and equipment (20 min). Track rules, flags (yellow, blue, red), brake and throttle, overtaking etiquette — in English. Suit, helmet and balaclava are provided.
  • Free practice (10 min per group). Learning the track; lap times recorded but not counted.
  • Qualifying (10 min per group). Best lap time sets the grid position.
  • Race (15–20 min per group). Grid start, full race; 8–12 karts at once depending on track capacity.
  • Final and podium. Group winners go to the final; alcohol-free champagne and the podium photograph.

In the department race format the team score is the average of members' lap times — the most balanced department wins, not the fastest driver. The race programme includes track hire, equipment, timing system, race director and podium.

Where — and why it suits a visiting team

Indoor tracks in Istanbul and Ankara make a format possible that fits two hours after work with no transport problem; an indoor track carries no weather risk and is preferred in winter. For a delegation in Istanbul for a two-day meeting, karting is the evening activity that needs no daylight, no kit and no second venue beyond a 30-minute transfer — and the rules are the same everywhere. Outdoor tracks (Istanbul Tuzla, İzmir, Antalya) are longer and faster; the right choice for a full-day event and for summer. Track booking is done by us; evening slots fill early, especially in December.

Who it is for

No licence is needed; karts are automatic and low-powered, and mixed races are normal. No fitness is needed, but wrists, neck and back take load — tired arms after a 20-minute race are normal. Height and weight limits depend on track equipment (usually over 140 cm and under 120 kg); this goes on the invitation. No participation in pregnancy, with disc herniation or heart conditions; a health declaration is mandatory. Alcohol before the race is strictly forbidden — in a dinner programme karting always comes before the meal.

Combining with dinner

Most tracks house a restaurant or café; the race is over in 90 minutes and the podium flows into dinner. In company dinner and year-end programmes it is, with bowling, the most requested "before dinner" format. The suit goes over your clothes; dinner continues in business dress. The only warning is high heels — tracks require flat shoes and the invitation says so.

Alternatives

For teams wanting adrenaline without a track, the F1 simulator fits the same competition into four square metres as a launch or trade-fair station. For terrain and nature, off-road and ATV are tour formats rather than races. For a real circuit and racing-driver experience, the motorsports hub has track-day and driver-training programmes.

Frequently asked questions

Is a driving licence needed?

No. Karts are automatic and low-powered; a 20-minute briefing in English is enough. Mixed races are normal. Height and weight limits depend on track equipment (usually over 140 cm, under 120 kg) and go on the invitation.

How long does the event take?

The grand prix format (briefing, practice, qualifying, race, final, podium) is about two hours for 30 people; it fits an indoor track after work or after a meeting day. For 60 people, 3–3.5 hours or two sessions are needed.

How is the department race scored?

The team score is the average of members' lap times; the most balanced department wins, not the fastest driver. That stops one quick driver dominating the event.

Can it combine with dinner?

Yes; most tracks house a restaurant, the race is over in 90 minutes and the podium flows into dinner. Karting always comes before the meal because alcohol before the race is strictly forbidden. The suit goes over your clothes; a note about high heels goes on the invitation.

Can it be done in winter?

Yes; the indoor tracks in Istanbul and Ankara carry no weather risk and are preferred in winter — useful for a delegation visiting between November and March. Outdoor tracks (Tuzla, İzmir, Antalya) are longer and faster and suit summer and full days. Evening slots fill early in December.

Health restrictions?

A health declaration is mandatory. No participation in pregnancy, with disc herniation or heart conditions. No fitness is needed, but wrists, neck and back take load; tired arms after a 20-minute race are normal.
