Overview

The communication skills programme is an experiential exercise that makes visible how teams speak under pressure. Because communication is not learned by listening to a presentation, the programme is built in the field rather than the classroom: participants start with tasks that force them to pass information to each other, and when the communication breaks the task visibly falters.

When the team spans several countries

This programme has an extra dimension for a group that works across borders. In a mixed-nationality team, a breakdown is usually attributed to language — and often it is not. It is an unstated assumption, a closed question, or someone who did not ask for a repeat because they did not want to look slow. The tasks here surface those behaviours without anyone having to raise them as a complaint, which is the part that is hard to do in a normal retrospective. Sessions are delivered in English where the group needs it.

Why it works through exercises

The weak point in corporate communication is not a lack of knowledge but habit. People do not accurately remember how they behaved in a meeting; the gap between "I said it clearly" and "that is not how I understood it" only becomes discussable when a recording is played back. The backbone of the sessions is therefore tasks that produce an unarguable output: if the instruction was passed on wrongly the tower leans, if nobody listened the team takes the wrong route. The result is there, and nobody becomes defensive.

The day

  • Opening and group mixing. Participants are distributed so that they are separated from their own department; everyday shortcuts stop working.
  • Limited information task. One group can see but not touch, the other can touch but not see. The only link is speech.
  • Feedback rehearsal. Participants deliver a difficult piece of feedback from a real work context, first badly and then in a structured way.
  • Recording review. Selected sections are watched together; behaviours such as interrupting, assuming and closed questioning are labelled without naming anyone.
  • Close. Each team writes three concrete rules to take back into its own working practice.

What is measured, and what is not

The programme does not produce a "communication score"; such a measure would not be reliable from a single day. Instead observable behaviours are counted: how often an instruction had to be repeated, the proportion of open questions, how many people spoke before a decision. The closing report shares these at team level and never at individual level. The programme is not designed as, and must not be used as, an input to performance assessment.

Who it suits, and who it does not

Newly merged teams, groups that work remotely and are meeting face to face for the first time, and structures where handovers between departments frequently fail. It is not recommended for teams in an active conflict or disciplinary process: this is not conflict resolution or therapy, and its aim is to change everyday communication habits.

Corporate Operations, OHS & Venue Management

In large-scale corporate events, occupational health and safety (OHS), crowd dynamics, and perimeter security are managed turn-key. Site ground assessments, emergency egress routes, and stable power infrastructure are audited by veteran event directors. Throughout the gathering, dedicated ambulances, certified first-aid medical teams, and event safety marshals remain stationed on site.

Turn-Key Services Included in the Event Package

  • Venue Allocation & Staging: Selection and private reservation of premier outdoor parks, country estates, or convention lawns, with weather-proof marquees and lounge setups.
  • Sports & Team Activity Zones: Inflatable challenge arenas, giant lawn games, survivor team tracks, parallel mini-tournaments, and family/kids activity zones.
  • AV, Sound, Lighting & Media: Concert-grade sound systems, live DJ sets, professional corporate emcee (MC), and 4K aerial drone and terrestrial highlight video production.
  • Branding & Awards: Custom corporate flaglines, directional signage, bespoke corporate trophies, medals, and branded commemorative merchandise.

Scaling by Company Headcount & Demographics

From intimate 50-person department retreats to 1,000+ employee company festivals, event flows follow precise minute-by-minute schedules. While athletic colleagues compete in high-energy sports challenges, employees seeking relaxation enjoy live music, lawn games, and wellness stations—fostering 100% company-wide engagement.

Frequently asked questions

Is the programme run in a classroom?

No. Most of the session consists of active tasks; an indoor space, an outdoor area or a combination is used. Only the review and closing sections are done seated. If you have a suitable space at your office, the programme can be run on site.

How many people, and what is the ideal group size?

It runs with 8 to 50 people. Because the exercises work in subgroups of 5 to 8, groups of 24 to 32 are the most efficient range for flow. Above 50 the group is split into two separate sessions.

Do participants need to exert themselves physically?

No. The tasks are built on coordination and speech and require no fitness. Observer-director roles are defined for participants with limited mobility; these roles are not outside the exercise but carry the communication load within it.

Is video recording mandatory?

No, it is optional. If recording takes place, explicit consent is obtained from participants, the material is used only for review during the day and is deleted at the end of the session. Anyone who does not consent is kept out of frame. Where your policy prohibits recording entirely, the review is run from observer notes instead.

What is delivered to the company afterwards?

A closing report containing team-level observation notes, the communication patterns that stood out and the working rules the participants wrote. The report contains no individual assessment and is not designed as a performance evaluation tool.
