The spring sailing opening week turns the first sail of the season into a corporate event. April and May are when the sailing season opens on the Turkish coast, before marinas fill up for summer and while prices sit markedly below summer levels. For companies this means running the same programme at a lower cost and in more comfortable conditions.
Spring does not have summer's stability. The weather is more variable, early April can bring rain and strong wind, and sea temperature is usually too low for swimming. Two things therefore need to be planned for:
With those managed, spring is the most productive season of the year for corporate sailing: it delivers the summer experience without the summer cost or crowds.
The Bodrum–Gökova and Göcek coast is the most suitable region for spring programmes thanks to sheltered water and an early season opening. Çeşme comes into play from mid-May, when the meltemi begins to set in. The Istanbul Bosphorus and Marmara suit half-day programmes from late May onwards.
We plan 6–10 participants per boat; a mini sailing skills race needs at least 3–4 boats. Once headcount, date range, preferred region and a budget band are shared, the number of boats, instructors and the ceremony content are planned.
Yes, and for most corporate objectives it is more productive than summer. In April–May, boat and accommodation prices are markedly below summer levels, marinas and bays are empty, the wind is at a strength suited to learning rather than as hard as the summer meltemi, and long hours on deck are not tiring.
Spring does not have summer's stability; early April can bring rain and strong wind. Defining an alternative date and a land-based backup in the contract is therefore more critical in spring than in summer. With those two points managed, spring is the most productive season of the year for corporate sailing.
Sea temperature in spring is usually too low for swimming. The programme is not built around swimming; there is a bay stop, but entering the water is entirely optional.
Layers, a waterproof windbreaker, a change of clothes and non-slip shoes. Unlike summer, staying warm matters; this should be communicated to participants with the invitation.
A season opening briefing and role allocation, a practice sail, an instructor-led mini sailing skills race of 2–3 rounds for groups that want competition, a bay stop and lunch on deck, and a season opening ceremony with trophies, a photo and video screening and the year's plan.

November to March is out of season for corporate sailing on the Turkish coast. April is when the season opens and also when the first quarter closes, which is why the programme is positioned as a kick-off event carrying team momentum into Q2.
