Overview
Short answer: The Antalya Rowing Experience is an instructor-led team rowing session for companies off the coast of Konyaaltı or Kemer, with the Taurus Mountains rising behind the water. Antalya’s long season makes it possible to plan from spring well into autumn, and the format is built for resort and congress groups: large teams row in several dragon boats, while smaller groups use sea canoes or multi-seat rowing boats — the exact format is confirmed in your quote. No experience is needed, life jackets are mandatory and the course stays close to the shore. Suitable for groups of 8–120 people.
Rowing in Antalya: between the mountains and the sea
Few places combine water and scenery quite like the Antalya coast. Sitting in a boat off the shore, you have the Mediterranean in front of you and the Taurus Mountains behind, often still capped with snow in early spring. Two stretches of coast work particularly well for corporate rowing.
Konyaaltı, on the western side of the city, is a long, straight beach with a wide promenade and plenty of space for a large group to gather, brief and launch. It is close to city hotels and an easy transfer from many conference venues, which makes it the natural choice when a big group needs to get on the water efficiently.
Kemer, further south-west along the coast, feels different: small coves fringed by pine forest, clear water and calm mornings. It suits groups who want more of an escape — a leadership offsite, a smaller incentive group or a team staying at one of the resorts in the area.
A long season
One of Antalya’s biggest advantages for event planners is the length of its season. Across Turkey (Türkiye), the standard window for water sports runs from April to October. In Antalya, thanks to its Mediterranean climate, the edges of that window are usually more comfortable than in the north, with warm sea temperatures lingering into autumn. That keeps rowing on the table for spring congresses and autumn meetings, not just summer incentives. In peak summer we schedule sessions early in the morning to avoid the heat; in spring and autumn, timings are more flexible.
Built for resort and congress groups
Antalya is one of the largest congress and incentive hubs in the region. Corporate groups typically stay at large hotels in Lara, Belek, Konyaaltı or Kemer, where meeting rooms, restaurants and the beach are all on one site. That set-up is ideal for rowing. Delegates can step out of a morning plenary, take a short transfer — or, where the hotel’s shoreline and management allow it, simply walk down to the hotel beach — and be back for the afternoon session two or three hours later.
For congress organisers, that matters. A dense conference agenda rarely has room for a full excursion day, but a rowing block fits into a half day and gives participants something active and social to talk about at dinner. It also works well as an optional programme for accompanying persons or as a reward session for top performers within a larger event.
Why dragon boats suit big groups
Getting a hundred people onto the water at the same time is mostly a question of choosing the right boat, and this is where dragon boats come into their own. A dragon boat is long and stable, carries a large crew and has a drummer at the front who sets the beat for everyone. Even people who have never held a paddle find the rhythm within minutes, because they only need to follow the drum and the person in front of them.
For larger groups we run several boats, either simultaneously or in rotation. Crews line up for a mini team race over a short course near the shore, while the teams waiting their turn cheer from the beach. The result is an event that feels big and energetic without being chaotic. For smaller groups and leadership teams, sea canoes or multi-seat rowing boats offer a more intimate format.
Comparing formats in Antalya
| Format | Best for | Where in Antalya | What stands out |
| Dragon boats | Large resort and congress groups | Konyaaltı and hotel beaches with wide frontage | Quick to learn, one shared beat, crew-against-crew racing |
| Sea canoes | Small to mid-sized groups, leadership teams | Sheltered coves around Kemer | Rhythm between two people, exploring the coves |
| Multi-seat rowing boats | Small groups wanting a classic rowing feel | Suitable stretches of shore on calm mornings | Technique and balance; rhythm turning directly into speed |

How a session runs
Every session starts with a briefing on shore covering life jackets, grip, the calls used on board and the safety rules. Crews then warm up on a short course parallel to the beach while the instructor works on pace and steering. In the synchrony block, the job of setting the tempo passes between different people, and the team discovers for itself how quickly the boat speeds up once everyone is in time. That is the core message of team rowing: no single person can carry the boat, and the strongest paddler pulling out of time makes things worse, not better.
The session closes with a friendly mini team race supervised by our instructors. It is not an official race — just the most fun part of the morning, and the moment most photos are taken.
Safety
All participants wear life jackets. We ask about swimming ability in advance, and non-swimmers are placed in stable boats such as dragon boats, where they can take part comfortably. The briefing always takes place before anyone goes on the water, instructors stay with the crews throughout and the course is set close to the shore. We follow the wind and sea forecast before the event. If conditions are not suitable at the decision time written into your quote, we shorten the course, move to a more sheltered spot or switch to the back-up date agreed at booking.
Combining rowing with sailing or a treasure hunt
Antalya makes it easy to build a full day around a rowing morning. In the afternoon, teams can head out on our Antalya sailing experience, or swap water for stone streets with our Antalya treasure hunt in the old town of Kaleiçi, where teams go treasure hunting through narrow lanes and around the historic harbour. If you are planning a longer stay, our Antalya corporate retreat guide covers venues, seasons and programme ideas.
Companies with teams in other parts of the country can run the same format in the Bodrum Rowing Experience on the Aegean or the Istanbul Rowing Experience on the Bosphorus.
Planning from abroad
International groups arrive through Antalya Airport, which handles flights from across Europe and beyond and sits within reach of Lara, Belek and the city. We arrange transfers from the airport and between your hotel and the water, provide briefings and instruction in English and coordinate directly with your hotel on beach access and timing. Our page on corporate sports events in Turkey for international teams explains how we work with planners, DMCs and agencies based abroad.

What shapes the quote
We do not publish fixed prices; each Antalya session is planned around your group and hotel. The main factors are:
- Number of participants and, from that, the boat type and number of boats
- Location: Konyaaltı, Kemer or your hotel beach
- Session length and whether boats run simultaneously or in rotation
- Add-ons such as sailing, a treasure hunt or refreshments
- Transfers and briefing language
Send us the details through our corporate quote form and we will prepare an itemised proposal with the recommended location, boat format, decision time and back-up date.
