Short answer: A corporate treasure hunt in Izmir is a 2–4 hour team building game in which your group splits into teams of 5–8 and solves checkpoints along routes such as Kemeraltı Bazaar, the Konak–Alsancak–Kordon waterfront or the towns of Urla and Alaçatı, using printed clue cards or phone-based digital tasks. It suits groups of 10–300; we handle the route, task design, staff and materials, and every game ends with a scoreboard and an awards ceremony.
Izmir offers a historic bazaar and a long, flat seafront promenade within easy reach of each other, which makes it a natural setting for a city scavenger hunt for companies. The narrow lanes of Kemeraltı push teams to navigate and talk to local shopkeepers, while the Kordon gives larger groups space to spread out and regroup. For teams that want to leave the city, Urla and Alaçatı turn a half or full day into a relaxed trip along the Aegean coast.
For international teams visiting Türkiye, the hunt is also a light, active way to get to know the city on the first or last day of a meeting or incentive programme. Unlike a ballroom session, it keeps people moving: roles within each team, time management and quick decisions emerge naturally on the street. That is why it works equally well for new teams getting to know each other and for established teams in need of a boost — a format that sits comfortably alongside our other motivation events.
We choose the route according to group size, programme length, season and how much walking suits your participants. The table below summarises the four areas we use most often.
| Area | Route character | Duration / walking | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kemeraltı Bazaar and the Kızlarağası Han area | Historic bazaar, narrow winding lanes, tasks that involve local shopkeepers | 2–3 hours; short distances, busy bazaar streets | Mid-sized groups who want local culture at the heart of the game |
| Konak – Alsancak – the Kordon | Starts at the Clock Tower; open, flat seafront route | 2–3 hours; level ground, adjustable length | Large groups, teams with accessibility needs, hotel-based programmes |
| Urla (art street and pier area) | Quiet town atmosphere, art and seaside tasks | Half day; planned with transfers | Teams looking for a calmer pace away from the city |
| Alaçatı stone streets | Photo and discovery tasks among stone houses | Half or full day; summer months | Teams adding an out-of-town day to a meeting or retreat |
With its lanes, historic inns and small shops, Kemeraltı is a ready-made playing field. Tasks typically involve asking shopkeepers for information, tracking down local products and working out directions street by street, so teams interact with each other and with the city. We time the start and the density of tasks around the bazaar’s busiest hours.
Starting at Konak Square and the Clock Tower and following the Kordon towards Alsancak, this open, level route is the most comfortable option for large groups and is easy to start straight from a seafront hotel. Photo and video challenges, riddles and questions about local life alternate along the promenade. If your team prefers green space, Kültürpark can serve as an alternative base for checkpoints.
Urla’s art street and pier area suit creative tasks at an unhurried pace. Alaçatı’s stone streets work particularly well in summer as a discovery game added to a meeting or accommodation programme. Transfers and food and drink are usually planned as optional items for these two areas.
The game usually lasts 2–4 hours. For a full day, we can combine it with lunch, a meeting block or a second activity. Teams who want a sportier version built on map reading and control points can also consider orienteering, which can be run as a city orienteering course in Izmir.

Midday heat is a real factor in Izmir in summer. In that season we move the start to the morning or late afternoon and build shaded streets and indoor checkpoints into the route. On rainy days an alternative route focused on the covered bazaar and indoor points is kept ready. For participants with limited mobility we design a shorter route or fixed checkpoints so that everyone stays part of the game.
The treasure hunt can be one part of a wider programme of corporate team building activities. For sports and water sports options in the city, see our corporate events in Izmir page. For a shorter, indoor problem-solving challenge, an escape room is a good complement. Companies with teams in several cities can run the same format as a corporate treasure hunt in Ankara or, in Istanbul, as part of our Sultanahmet and Historic Peninsula corporate events.

We design it for groups of 10 to 300. Participants are split into teams of 5–8; with larger groups, teams start from different points so that the route never gets crowded.
The standard game runs for 2–4 hours. Routes in Urla or Alaçatı are planned as a half or full day including transfers, and a full day can combine the hunt with lunch or a second activity.

Either. The hunt can be run with printed clue cards or with phone-based digital tasks, and photo and video challenges, riddles and local culture questions work in both. A mixed format is also possible.
Route length is adjusted to your group. The Konak–Kordon seafront is flat and open, making it the most accessible option. For participants with limited mobility we prepare a shorter route or fixed checkpoints.
The hunt takes place in public spaces such as streets, the bazaar, squares, parks and the seafront. Tasks inside museums, archaeological sites, private property or shopping centres are not included and require the relevant permission. All tasks can be delivered in English, Turkish or both.
