Overview
Short answer: A corporate treasure hunt in Ankara is a 2–4 hour team building game in which your group splits into teams of 5–8 and solves checkpoints around Ankara Citadel, the historic streets of Hamamönü and Ulus, Lake Eymir or the town of Beypazarı, using printed clue cards or phone-based digital tasks. It suits groups of 10–300; we handle the route, task design, staff and materials, and every game ends with a scoreboard and an awards ceremony.
What does a team building treasure hunt in Ankara offer?
Ankara puts two very different settings within easy reach: a historic centre with the neighbourhood inside the Citadel walls and carefully restored streets, and open countryside just outside the city. The same format can therefore be shaped for a team that wants a short break from the office or for one that wants to spend the whole day outdoors.
For international teams visiting the capital — for meetings, training or an incentive programme — the hunt is an easy, active way to discover the city without a formal tour. It gets people away from the meeting table and making decisions together: sharing roles, prioritising under time pressure and communicating as a team all happen naturally. That makes it a popular city scavenger hunt for companies, whether for new teams getting to know each other or as part of our wider motivation events.
Which areas of Ankara do we use?
We choose the route according to group size, programme length, season and how much walking suits your participants. These are the four areas we use most often.
| Area | Route character | Duration / walking | Best for |
| Ankara Citadel and surroundings | Neighbourhood inside the citadel walls, narrow sloping lanes | 2–3 hours; uphill sections and cobbles | Teams who want historic atmosphere and are comfortable walking |
| Hamamönü and historic Ulus | Restored streets, the Hacı Bayram area, square-based tasks | 2–3 hours; short distances, relatively level | Large groups and teams who want a quick start from the city centre |
| Lake Eymir | Outdoor lakeside and nature route in the METU (ODTÜ) area | 2–4 hours; open terrain, adjustable length | Teams who want time in nature and a sportier pace |
| Beypazarı | Stone houses and old market streets, a day trip | Full day; including transfers | Teams planning a whole day out of the city |
Ankara Citadel and surroundings
The neighbourhood inside the citadel, with its narrow lanes and viewpoints, is a rich backdrop for tasks. Teams work out directions, complete photo challenges and answer observation questions about their surroundings. The route covers outdoor areas only; museum interiors are not part of the programme. Because of the slopes and cobbles we recommend comfortable shoes and set the pace accordingly.
Hamamönü and historic Ulus
The restored streets of Hamamönü, together with Ulus and the Hacı Bayram area, offer a compact route in the city centre with plenty of checkpoints close together. Tasks involving local shopkeepers, questions on local culture and riddles work particularly well here. If you want a longer game, the route can be combined with the Citadel.
Lake Eymir: outdoors and nature
The area around Lake Eymir suits teams who want to leave the streets behind for a more active, open-air game. Checkpoints are spread along the lakeside route, so teams walk, jog and think in equal measure. As the lake lies within the METU (ODTÜ) area, access and any permission required are planned together with the institution if needed.
Beypazarı: a full-day trip
Beypazarı’s stone houses and market streets make a great stage for a discovery game that fills a whole day out of the city. Transfers and food and drink are usually planned as optional items, with the treasure hunt placed in the morning or afternoon block.
How does the treasure hunt work?
- Briefing: At the starting point — often your hotel or meeting venue — we explain the rules, safety notes, finishing time and meeting point.
- Teams: The group splits into teams of 5–8. We can mix departments or nationalities and prepare the team lists with you. Each team picks a name and a captain.
- Tasks: Teams work through checkpoints along the route with printed clue cards or phone-based digital tasks: photo and video challenges, riddles and questions on local culture. All tasks can be delivered in English.
- Scoring: Every task is scored on time, accuracy and creativity. Our staff follow the teams along the route and keep the scoreboard up to date.
- Ceremony: Results are announced at the finish, the winning team receives its prize and the best photos and videos of the day are shared.
The game usually lasts 2–4 hours. For a full day, we can combine it with lunch, a meeting block or a second activity. Teams who want a sportier version built on maps and control points can also consider orienteering; both Lake Eymir and the city centre can host a city orienteering course.

Weather, seasons and accessibility
Ankara has cold winters and hot, dry summers. In the colder months we shorten the route and add indoor checkpoints and warm-up stops; in summer we move the start to the morning or late afternoon and favour shaded streets. An alternative route with more indoor points is kept ready for rainy days. For participants with limited mobility we suggest the more level Hamamönü area rather than the sloping Citadel, a shorter course or fixed checkpoints.
What else can we plan in Ankara?
The treasure hunt can be one part of a wider programme of corporate team building activities. For sports and tournament options in the city, see our corporate events in Ankara page. For a shorter, indoor problem-solving challenge, an escape room is a good complement. Companies with teams in several cities can run the same format as a corporate treasure hunt in Izmir or, in Istanbul, as part of our Sultanahmet and Historic Peninsula corporate events.
