A long open-pitch season thanks to Izmir's mild climate: a corporate five-a-side league grouped around the bay and the industrial zones.
Izmir has one of the most favourable climates in Turkey for outdoor corporate sport. Mild winters extend the season playable on an open pitch markedly compared with the other large cities; the need for a covered pitch is limited to a few wet weeks. That lowers both pitch cost and postponement risk.
This page covers how the league is set up in Izmir. For the format, squad sizes and match rules, see our corporate five-a-side league page.
The climate advantage reverses in summer: afternoon temperatures in July and August are unsuitable for pitch activity. Izmir leagues move the summer fixture to after 20:30, or break the season at the end of June and reopen in September. On coastal pitches the evening cool makes that transition easier.
Izmir's international corporate presence is weighted towards the port, the free zone and manufacturing in the organised industrial zones rather than towards office districts. For a company running a plant or a logistics operation here, the practical points are the two below: choose the pitch inside the industrial zone rather than in the centre, and plan for a season split in two rather than a continuous year. The climate makes the first cheap and the second necessary.
The most productive structure in Izmir is a season in two halves: March to June and September to December. During the summer gap, single-day beach volleyball or beach football tournaments can be planned instead of the league; the city's access to the coast makes that practical.
Throughout the competition, occupational health and safety (OHS) standards are rigorously enforced. Matches are hosted exclusively in professional athletic facilities featuring shock-absorbing flooring, climate control, and certified lighting. To eliminate workplace disputes, all games are officiated by independent, licensed federation referees and official scoring table judges. A certified on-site emergency first-aid responder is stationed throughout all fixtures, with health clearance forms systematically verified.
Tournament structures adapt to your headcount. For teams of 20–50 participants, intensive single-day corporate cup formats build high-energy camaraderie. For enterprises of 100–500+ employees, season leagues spanning multiple weeks sustain cross-departmental engagement. Spectator cheering awards, halftime skill challenges, and weekly internal newsletter recaps ensure comprehensive inclusion.
All tournaments are delivered under our official TÜRSAB Group A-12558 licensed travel agency accreditation with transparent corporate contracts. Upon providing your team size, target location, and preferred calendar, we deliver your official line-item RFP proposal within 24 hours. Direct corporate billing in USD, EUR, or TRY is supported for multinational procurement desks.
Playing on an open pitch in the afternoon between July and August is not suitable. There are two options: move the fixture to after 20:30, or split the season and take a summer break. Most corporate leagues choose the second, because that period also coincides with concentrated annual leave.
Not mandatory in Izmir; a reserve covered pitch booking for a few wet weeks is enough. That gives an advantage in the league budget compared with Istanbul and Ankara.
They can, but travel time must be considered. A company in Kemalpaşa or Torbalı travelling to the centre for an away match faces a long evening journey. Where density allows, an industrial zone group is formed separately and merges with the central group for the final week.
Yes, and Izmir is one of the best cities in Turkey for that format. A single-day beach event during the summer break preserves the social continuity of the league and stops teams dispersing.
Four is the lower limit. Leagues of six to eight teams are common around the centre of Izmir; that scale can be run with one pitch and two matches a week.
